Concrete Research and Testing, LLC (CRT) was founded in 1996 by Nick Scaglione.  Based in Columbus, Ohio, CRT works with clients throughout the U.S. and internationally.

CRT is qualified to address any concrete issue or construction material problem.  We are a full service materials laboratory specializing in failure analysis, research, product development and testing of construction materials, including concrete, mortar, stucco, aggregates, dimension stone, portland cement, supplementary cementitious materials and chemical admixtures.

CRT personnel are certified through the American Concrete Institute (ACI) as Concrete Field Testing Technicians and Concrete Laboratory Testing Technicians.  CRT employees are also certified through the Ohio Ready Mix Concrete Association (ORMCA) as Concrete Technicians.

CRT is capable of performing most standard ASTM tests involving concrete, concrete aggregates, mortars and cements.  Testing per AASHTO specifications is also available.  Testing and laboratory investigations are conducted at a very competitive rate.

Our facility is AASHTO accredited as both a Concrete Testing Laboratory and an Aggregate Testing Laboratory.  The following ASTM tests are covered under CRT’s AASHTO accreditation: C39, C40, C42, C117, C127, C128, C136, C138, C143, C172, C173, C192 C231, C295, C457, C566, C617, C702, C1064, C1202, C1218, C1260.

CRT is also validated through the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) to perform testing of construction materials.  The USACE accreditation includes all of the ASTM test methods covered under our AASHTO accreditation and also includes ASTM C856 – Petrographic Examination of Hardened Concrete.

CRT Policy Statement

Concrete Research & Testing strives to provide all clients with accurate and unbiased test results. All testing and reporting is performed in an ethical, unbiased manner by qualified personnel.  Testing is performed according to the most recent industry standards or internal written procedures.  All laboratory equipment is kept in good working order and is calibrated in accordance with the schedule and procedures documented in the CRT Quality System Manual.
